History of Mother’s Day

I found few good articles that cite the history of Mother’s Day. I never know that in US it is an official national holiday because it is not in my country. Well, thanks to Anna Jarvis for her campaign to establish a national Mother’s Day.

Anyway, for those who are not sure, Mother’s Day is celebrated each year on the second Sunday of May. I know certain countries celebrate it on different day of the year, but still it is celebrated worldwide.

So if you have a mother, a wife that brings you joy by giving birth to your children, an aunt who has been like a mother to you all these years, a sister who not only care for you as a sister but has been bringing you up like a mother would do, take this chance and let them know how much you appreciate them as a Mother. Happy Mother’s Day in advance to all great women out there!

YOUR BIRTHDAY COLOR IS NAVY

You are an attractive and fun-loving person. You are passionate about enjoying life. You have strong feelings about everything. When you decide on your goal in life, you will pursue it with enthusiasm and effort. However, since everything interests you, you are also very easily distracted. Once you get angry at someone, it’s hard for you to forgive them. You need to be the center of attention in love.

Chinese New Year

In my country where we live in multiracial community, it is common to know about different events celebrated by another race. At least to have public holiday on the day itself and to listen and see the lion dance when your Chinese neighbour invites the dance troupe over to get rid of the evil spirit in the household.

When I was younger, we used to go to Chinese friends’ houses, greeting them Happy Chinese New Year while eating the Mandarin oranges and all the tidbits they served during the celebration. The house will be decorated with red packets hanging on the pussy willow trees and usually they will have a pot or two of the orange calamansi lime plants. There will also be goldish pineapple as it resembles gold and prosperity.

For those who would like to know what is the history behind this celebration, check this site out. For more info, check also this site. May this year, the year of Golden Boar will bring happiness and extra prosperity to everyone. :) Happy Chinese New Year!
