Cooking

The Piri Piri

There is one local restaurant that serves Piri-Piri chicken which I love so much.

I bought the sauce and the dried herbs in attempt to make my own Piri-Piri chicken but all it ends up is on my eggs and chicken burger for late night supper. Well, at least I still make use of the store-bought Piri-Piri sauce…haha!

piri-piri-05-web.jpg

So if you never heard about Piri-Piri, it is actually a Portuguese name for the African bird’s-eye chili. But some said Piri-Piri comes from Swahili language.

So if you want to learn more, check out this site I found about the author’s trip to Portugal in search of the great chili, Piri-Piri.

There is also one site which gives the basic idea on how to marinade Piri-Piri Chicken.

Or if you are in the UK, join the chili cookery class to add a spicy knowledge into your cooking treasure.

Pearl As A Gift

*This post is written for National Pearl*

No women in their right mind would not love to have exquisite jewelry like this. Imagine wearing a double strand of Akoya saltwater pearls like this for an intimate dinner on your wedding anniversary.

npu_ad.jpg

Akoya pearls are not easy to be cultivated so it has a deeper meaning in relationship if it was given as a special gift to your special someone.

“Akoya” refers to pearls produced by the Japanese Akoya oyster (Pinctada Fucata martensii), the most famous of all pearl producing oysters.

The Akoya pearls are sought after because of their intense luster, beautiful color, stunning overtones and exquisite roundness.

The Akoya oyster rarely produces more than two pearls with a higher mortality rate for the oyster itself.

When you buy National Pearl Akoya pearl jewelry, you will get your pearl of choice in an elegant jewelry box, a certificate of authenticity and the 90-Day Total Satisfaction Money-Back Guarantee in writing.

All the Akoya pearl jewelry pieces are guaranteed to be appraised up to 4 times the purchase price by professional pearl expert.

For example the above 16″ twin silk strands 6.5-7 mm AAA quality white Akoya saltwater pearls, double knotted by hand with 14-Karat gold clasp is sold at $500 but the retail appraisal is up to $3,775 in value.

If you are thinking of being different in giving gifts, this is the choice for you to consider.

Travel

Mikimoto Pearl Island

If I manage to go to Japan again, I would love to visit the Mikimoto Pearl Museum in Shima Peninsula.

I always hear and read about Mikimoto pearls but it would be great if I could see the real place where it was originally cultivated. For those who don’t know, Mikimoto Kokichi, born in Toba in 1858 was the first person to successfully cultivate pearls in the year 1893.

I would also like to see how the women divers or ama do their diving demonstration. They used to be an important part in pearl culturing process, to dove in and out of the sea water to ensure that the whole cultivation process would be successful.

It would be an informative trip to be able to learn how the cultivation of pearls happen and to understand more about pearls that Mikimoto Kokichi loved so much.

Need A Vacuum?

*This post is written for Best Vacuum*

If you are looking for vacuum for household use that is reliable, check out the Dyson vacuum range. I am interested in their Dyson DCO7 Animal™ Vacuum.

Not that I have any straying pet in my home, but with the features it has, it would be great for my house.

Since I am running a craft business, there’s time when there are so many small pieces of cloth, ribbons, wires and thread on the carpet and it takes so much effort for me to clear them up.

My current vacuum is not strong enough to suck all of the debris so I have to use whatever method to clear up the carpet (pick out each pieces with hands, digging out the dirt from the carpet..huhu). Not to say the amount of dust under my sofa.

Most of the time I have to end up mopping the floor to clean up the dust since the vacuum could not clear up everything. It is very tiring and I wish there is simpler alternative to my housework problem.

Check out all the features on the Dyson vacuum and if you are a busy woman like me, I’m sure you will understand why I need one vacuum like this.

How Often Do You Clean?

If you are a busy woman, how often do you clean your house?

I mean clean like sweep the floor, scrub the toilet, mop the floor etc. In my case I think I only clean the house like once in two months (or less frequent up to how much the dust gather under my feet..haha!)

498858_brush_3.jpg

I know there are people who clean their house everyday.

They mop the floor of their kitchen every time they finish cooking, they sweep the house like every morning and I salute them for their tidiness freak trait.

If there is one part of the house I really dread to clean it is the kitchen. Not that my kitchen is really a big mess, but it is not immaculately clean as Martha Stewart’s kitchen.

So if you are like me who don’t know where to start on kitchen cleaning, hopefully this cleaning tips would help.

These days it is easier for you to reach outside market (even outside the country) if you have a good and presentable business website.

They not only could design a website that caters to the need of your business but they could also do all the Internet marketing job for you. These include Internet Yellow Pages, email marketing, webmail, secure hosting and ecommerce website development.

What Is Turnkey Website?

First of all you need to understand what it means by turnkey. Quoted from About.com,

A turnkey business is a business that includes everything you need to immediately start running the business.

InvestorWords.com defines a turnkey operation as “A product or service which can be implemented or utilized with no additional work required by the buyer (just by ‘turning the key’)”.

A business that is being sold as a turnkey business would include tangibles such as inventory and equipment through intangibles such as a previously established reputation and goodwill.

So if we are talking about turnkey website, it would mean that the website is ready to be used as promotion and marketing tools for your business.

For more understanding, read this article from BasicTips.com on what is turnkey website.

“A turnkey website is a completely functional, operating site with hosting and pre-installed interactive scripts for forms, shopping carts (with product images, descriptions, prices), affiliate programs, etc.”

So if you are planning to start a business and would like to have website but not too inclined to learn the technical aspect of a website, you should consider buying a turnkey website.

It’s My Market

If you are in the UK right now, then you are so lucky to know that there is one site that has it all -from classifieds, blog directory, dating to weather forecast.

Check out their classified ads, if you have bamboo at home kindly contact the person who is willing to dig out the bamboo as it is on his wanted list now..haha!

Oh, but make sure you are somewhere in the area of PL26, Cornwall.

Although the site is a relatively new site, they are looking for ways to improve their brand exposure as well as their search engine traffic.

So hop on and join the community be that in the photography contest or any updates on upcoming events at your local town.

The weather forecast is also great since they update it every 2 hours for 24 hour round forecast according to your town name or postcode. So if you are planning to have a trip somewhere in UK, make sure you check out the weather first.

Or if you are bored secluded at home, check out their cinema listings and read what’s on the screen at the moment. I feel like watching the Painted Veil and it’s on show at Plaza Cinema, Truro.

Movies

The Painted Veil

I don’t think this movie is shown in my local state. Or maybe they have screened it but I did not notice it. It is based on a novel written by W. Somerset Maugham titled “The Painted Veil”, first published in 1925.

u34881a2u80.jpg

I sometimes love to watch this kind of movie, a heavy drama with polite scripts, something that is different than what you see in our everyday life, just to have a feel what it will be like if you live in 1920s.

It’s a story of classic woman who is trapped in loveless marriage, because that time marriage is like a key to free yourself from your high expectant mother (as if it is any different now..haha!)

One thing lead to another, adultery, the cholera-ravaged villages and strife-torn China would give you a new perception about life as a whole.

Just like the words on the movie poster, sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people.

Check out The Painted Veil DVD for your next movie must see list!
