A friend passed away on Monday after being hospitalized for having leukemia. At the age of 28 he left behind a wife and a 1 year plus daughter. I went to a boarding school with the wife together for 5 years and I just could not imagine how hard the reality of losing the husband hits her.
At that age, we have all plans in life ahead of us, you starts a family, your career is moving up, you bought your dream house together and in the blink of a second, all changed.

I have heard about leukemia before but I never know that it has many stages.
I think what my friend had was Acute myeloid leukemia. He was diagnosed in February and after 43 days of treatment, he no longer survived.
All these while I never thought that leukemia could be a killer disease since I thought that we can always do bone marrow transplant to save the patient. I was wrong and it prompts me to search more info and make sure I know what is it that struck him.
The loss of him make me realized that in reality we have such a limited time in this world and we should cherish every moment of it to the best of our memories.
I hope my friend will be strong for the sake of the daughter and I want her to know that we will always be here if she needs us.
