Garlic Parsley Potato

potato1.jpg

I went to Kenny Rogers for brunch and snapped this picture of their potato with garlic parsley. I’ve been searching for the recipe but could not find something that sensible. Maybe I should just try my own version of Garlic parsley Potato. Anyone who happened to work in Kenny Rogers maybe you can find the recipe for me. Thanks! heheh

Digital Scrapbooking

If you are interested to scrapbook but lack the money and materials to do the original on-the-paper style scrapbook, perhaps you should try digital scrapbook. I find this new branch of craft is interesting as they use whatever resources I currently have in my PC, just the extra knowledge on software needed and editing process, plus the original creativity as needed in the normal old style scrapbooking methods.

I find this link useful as they provide basic tutorials and lots of freebies to start with. I have downloaded the kits they have and will try to figure out how to make my own first page of digital scrapbook.

Arnolfini Portrait

As I continue to search about oil painting, I came across word Renaissance, and it led me to this painting.

It is known as Arnolfini Potrait, quoted from the site “It is one of the most original and complex paintings in Western art history, and in particular is, together with his Ghent Altarpiece the oldest very famous painting in oils, signed and dated by Van Eyck in 1434.”

I remember it to be part of the parody in the opening sequence for Desperate Housewives series…now I know what it is actually. Do check this out.

Oil Painting

I always want to learn how to do oil painting but here in my place, those artistic ventures would cost a bomb, not to mention how hard to find the materials, if available the price would be too much too pay. Maybe in 15 years time I would be able to afford such hobby..huhuhu..to those who want to know what oil painting is all about, check this out.

New Craft Venture

Lately I’m into new craft venture: beading and jewellery making. I gather all the necessary information from the Internet and bought books on the topics, though for books they did not answer most of my questions when I’m trying my hands on the crafts. So I have to consult friends who share the passion in the crafts.

The beading on the clothing works fine, managed to complete what I started though the outcome does not look very professional..hahha..and the jewellery stringing, I have almost all suitable colors of bracelet now to go with my outfit. I’m thinking of taking class for crystals weaving, since I would like to do my own handphone accessories. :)

Oh I did try my hands on ribbon embroidery too, but I find it’s too hard to pull out the needle from the cloth and my effort just ended on the first and the last piece of cloth I ever managed to start on..hahha..I guess I dont really like embroidery, I tried years ago on normal thread embroidery and the table runner never see the finishing stitch. However do check out this link as it shows the basic type of embroidery using silk ribbons. The image shown above is taken from this site.

While in college, I tried pastel painting, I managed to complete about 5 pictures of flowers and framed them on the wall, 2 were given away to friends. I have been thinking of going for oil painting but still not confident. Then I tried calligraphy and stopped when the calligraphy pen keep on squirting ink on my shirt..hahaha..

Few months back, I have interest in scrapbooking and went to a basic class at the only retail store for scrapbooking materials in my place. However the interest stops for a while since it is very hard to find affordable material where I live (those available are too expensive to indulge in). Now I’m accumulating all the USD in my PayPal account to bid for wholesale scrapbook stuffs on eBay. Check also this site.

My latest craft venture is into decoupage though I have not tried anything on it yet, still reading and gathering info and checking how much should I invest for the craft. Check this site which has a lot of great ideas for decorating. Maybe if I’m still free in January 2007, I will attend the class conducted. Then we will see whether this new craft will stick or just another collection of stuffs collecting dusts under my bed..hahahah..

How To Make Omelette

Whenever I was away and have to stay at the hotel, I always hope that the breakfast serves omelette, best still if they have omelette chef at the egg counter. I can ask the man to make omelette with everything but onion in it, put chilli sauce and yummy, it goes in my tummy…hahahha

For those who dont have the chance to stay in hotel and be served with omelette as breakfast, perhaps you can be your own chef and try this recipe: Omelette 101.

You should also check this site because it has pictures on step by step instructions. :) The picture here was taken from a German site, sorry I dont understand anything it says, but the picture do look great! hehe..

What Is Decoupage?

If you know how to cut and paste, then you will be able to start this new craft. Read somewhere that this craft was considered as poor man’s art because those who could not afford to hire painter to paint in their house will resort to cutting and pasting the decorative pictures into their plate, cupboard etc.
However now it is not so cheap to indulge in decoupage. The paper with decorative pictures itself cost certain amount, and you need to buy the decoupage medium like special glue, the sealer/varnish which in the end make you poorer in pocket..hahaha..

Well those interested to know more about the history of decoupage, kindly check this.

The picture was taken from this site which should have information on how to decoupage and gilding, with free projects, decoupaged and gilded treasures for sale, and of course, their wonderful book, “Elegant Decoupage with Paper, Gold Leaf and Fabric.” I tried the given site address for their decoupage website but the site was not there..huhuhu…

Card Making Craft

When I attended the scrapbooking class last year, I happened to see the equipment they have for card making as well. I particularly like the embossing tools but looking at the price, I guess I have to save it for another time..huhuhuhu..

flowerbutter.jpg

The picture here was taken from this site. It shows the basic step on how to do the embossed card. But in my case, I have to find a good supply of card stock to start, not to mention all the embellishment. Perhaps I will use my creativity to replace all the hard-to-find materials with whatever crafts leftover I have in my art cabinets.
